Gestures and sounds – City Codes by Tabea Sternberg
During the Berlin Days in Shanghai the large video projection “CITY CODES” will show non-verbal styles of communication between teenagers in six different countries. Symbolic gestures and behaviors from Berlin, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Moskau, Windhuk and Bejing got edited to a filmic dialog with a great visual impact. The projection is added with a genuine collage of sounds and noises from these cities.
CITY CODES was produced by Jochen Hahn, Hahn Produktion Berlin in co-production with the author and director Tabea Sternberg / be productions, Guy Sternberg (composition from city sounds), Andreas Stirl (camera), Jan Oellrich (dramaturgy consultant), Dani Sperling (motion graphic), Fatma Celik (assistant producer), Florian von Keyserlingk, Guy Sternberg (sound recording). The Project CITY CODES is supported by the Federal Foreign Office Berlin in cooperation with the Senate Berlin.
CITY CODES can be watched at the German Pavilion, in the immediate vicinity of the Berlin Square.
