The preparations for the Berlin Square are in full swing. Yesterday Lars Denicke from PICTOPLASMA visited our office to show us the the AKI- costumes by graphic artist AKINORI OISHI. This friendly looking yellow characters will be part of the Berlin Square in Shanghai. Among the moving cubes, the live action-painting and the hot music acts the AKI’s will welcome the Berlin Square visitors and amuse them with jolly activities.
Akinori Oishi studied fine arts at Kyoto City University of Art. He worked at different graphic studios in France and Japan. Today, he’s an independent artist, teaching at Tama Art University in Tokyo, and a guest lecturer at the University of Art and Design in Lausanne, Switzerland. The makers of the very successful PICTOPLASMA FESTIVAL that showcases contemporary character design and art, wanted Akinori Oishi’s favoured AKI- mascots to represent the unique festival as part of Berlin’s animated graphic scene . Enjoy some impressions of the AKI dress rehearsal:
