Werner Aisslinger – designing the 21st century

studio aisslinger was founded in 1993 by Werner Aisslinger in Berlin. Since that time Aisslinger made a surpassing career in design. Products by the 1964 born designer are exhibited at the permanent collection of Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the French Fonds National d´Art Contemporain in Paris and the Vitra Design Museum. The commited designer is working for companies like Interlübke, Stilwerk, Porro, Magis, Zanotta and Daimler Chrysler.

Werner Aisslinger teached design at the UNIVERSITÄT DER KÜNSTE, at the LATHI DESIGN INSTITUTE FINNLAND and at DESIGN COLLEGE KARLSRUHE. Since 2006 Aisslinger is on the LUCKY STRIKE DESIGN AWARD jury advertised by the Raymond Loewy Foundation. The reason for his international success is rooted in Aisslingers passion for new materials and technologies. His chair JULI produced by Cappellini was the first furniture that is made by a new type of foam called polyurethane integral foam.

Driven by an interdisciplinary and visionary approach Aisslinger creates groundbreaking and innovativ design concepts. The LOFTCUBE, Aisslinger presented in 2003 first time, made studio aisslinger internationally known. The much discussed LOFTCUBE attracted a great deal of attention and became an icon for the modern nomad lifestyle. During DESINGMAI 2003, the first design festival in the German capital, his innovation, the prototype of the mobile living-container, was shown for the first time.

On the Berlin Square in Shanghai studio aisslinger is reperesented with CORAL SEATING, one of Aisslinger recent design works. Characterized by a geodetic structure with a strong sculptural appearance the CORAL SEATINGS fits perfect to the contemporary lifestyle of collage- living. The CORAL shape is build of an addition of hexagon structures inspired by the shapes of microorganisms of marine life.
