At the World Exhibition 2010 in Shanghai this excellent and awarded firm interprets the theme of movement for the prosthetics company Otto Bock Healthcare with the dynamic yet poetic mirror installation MOBILITY. The installation opens the “Physical Mobility” section in the Life & Sunshine Pavilion, which is dedicated to the concerns of handicapped people. Visible from a long way off, the MOBILITY installation provides a metaphor of powerful visual radiance, evoking a mood which introduces visitors to the theme. Hundred prosthetic hands holding little round mirrors are mounted on a wall area of four square metres. Each white plastic hand is individually movable by motor. The mirrors reflect the beam of a spotlight into the room and onto the wall opposite.
First flowing chaotically along elliptical paths and eventually build up the Chinese character for movement. The concentrated dynamism of the light creates a very vivid and three-dimensional visual impression.
